Road to Better Health: Nutrition Coach Wisdom

ree

I can't stress enough how important it is to have a Nutrition Coach in your life. Yes, I am a Certified Nutrition Coach so perhaps I have some bias, but if I'm honest, I would hire a nutrition coach even if I wasn't one already. Having a nutrition coach to guide you in your health and wellness journey is essential.

One of the key differences between physicians and a nutrition coach like me is their scope of practice. A doctor is trained in diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical/health conditions, whereas, a nutrition coach primarily focuses on nutrition and lifestyle interventions to improve overall health and well-being. Doctors often have limited time and experience with coaching individuals. This is not a dig to doctors. I'm just trying to be real about their primary focus and limitations. In the same way, nutrition coaches have limitations too. Many of us have health challenges that can be preventable or cured with a proper dietary lifestyle and that's where I come in, Mrs. Fitted Apron!

I'm here to help you create a roadmap to improve your health using lifestyle interventions. Here are some things you can consider as you assess your health:

  • Understand your Goals - Clarify your health and nutrition goals to establish a clear direction for your journey towards improved well-being. I recommend sharing one or two main goals with a trusted friend so they can encourage you throughout your journey.

  • Assess your Current (Eating) Habits - Start by honestly evaluating your current eating habits to understand where improvements can be made. Ask yourself questions like: 'When I am stressed, what foods do I reach for?' or 'Am I a late night snacker?' or 'Do I drink enough water on a daily basis or do I consume more sugary drinks?'

  • Crafting a Personalized Plan - 'Work with a nutrition coach (Mrs. Fitted Apron) to develop a personalized nutrition plan tailored to your goals, preferences, and lifestyle.

  • Implementing Positive Changes - Gradually incorporate positive changes into your routine, focusing on small, manageable steps to avoid overwhelm.

  • Overcoming Challenges - Identify potential obstacles and develop strategies with your coach to overcome challenges along your journey.

  • Celebrating Progress - Acknowledge and celebrate each milestone and achievement, no matter how small, as you progress towards better health.
